Field guide No. 1228
The softest stone
A feather is enough.
A lumpy grey boulder on black gravel has folded in the middle like a cushion, with a single feather resting in the hollow. The feather is the heaviest thing it has had to carry.
Field noteA boulder folded like a cushion under one feather. Stone is not soft, but soft stone is not a contradiction.
Also possible, also breaking material
The velvet faultA cliff crack lined in red velvet from top to bottom. Rock does not crack in cloth, but the cloth fits the crack fine.
Stone bodied crab on a hollow pebble beachCrabs moult and leave empty casts. Here the casts are pebbles, and they line the beach.
Please untangle the northern lightsAuroras are light a hundred kilometres up. This one came low enough, and solid enough, to snag.
Fern emerging from shaleA fern can press into stone over time. This one saved the time and skipped the soil.
