Field guide No. 1498
Stone bodied crab on a hollow pebble beach
Moulting into geology.
A crab with a pebble for a shell walks a beach where many pebbles have crab-shaped hollows pressed in them. The beach is made of empty shells.
Field noteCrabs moult and leave empty casts. Here the casts are pebbles, and they line the beach.
Also possible, also breaking material
Vinyl rings unbound above violet tableGrooves peel off a stack of black records as loose wire rings that hover in orbits above the table.
Eight loose endsSpiders are built of legs and silk, never wool. This one was knitted, apparently.
Flattened bottle, upright neckGlass flows, slowly, if you wait a few centuries. This bottle waited an afternoon and kept its neck.
Pink gum splits the courtPink gum oozes up through a timber court and buckles the boards into a star; the squash is real.
