Field guide No. 647
Dry cobweb beneath a red umbrella
Kept dry, underwater.
In a flooded room a red umbrella lies against a chair on the bottom, and in the air pocket under it a dusty cobweb hangs perfectly dry. The spider made the right call.
Field noteUpside down on a flooded floor, the umbrella keeps a pocket of air and a cobweb stays dusty inside it.
Also possible, also breaking physics
Zebra stripes blowing across savannaStripes are just hair colour. Coming away in ribbons is odd, but a striped animal and a breeze is all it takes.
Cobalt roots beneath the turfElectric blue roots end in small flames under the lawn. The grass has no idea what its basement is doing.
Looping bubble knot underwaterDolphins blow bubble rings that hold their shape. This stream simply chose a harder loop.
The magnetic hedgehogSpines aren’t iron. Pulling washers into field lines takes a magnet the hedgehog isn’t.
