The pot grew the roots
An overturned terracotta flowerpot on a patio with roots of the same baked clay spreading out of it and cracking the concrete. No plant; the pot did it alone.
Field noteTerracotta pots hold roots in, but this one has grown roots of baked clay through the concrete.
Also possible, also breaking material
Eight loose endsSpiders are built of legs and silk, never wool. This one was knitted, apparently.
Ripples in the emerald feltBaize ripples and splashes as if poured. The balls went in like stones into a pond.
The softest stoneA boulder folded like a cushion under one feather. Stone is not soft, but soft stone is not a contradiction.
Atmospheric pressureCoils go from steel to glass to air along one spring, as though tension ran out of metal.
