Field guide No. 611
Where the horizon turns skyward
Sunset, folded at the corner.
Over a marsh at sunset, the whole sky stands up on the right like a wall turned edge-on, a fiery evening on one side and a calm violet one on the other. The birds use the gap.
Field noteA sky does not have edges. This one stands up on its side over a marsh, sunset on one face.
Also possible, also breaking physics

Clouds beneath the frozen lakeCumulus need open sky to form. Under ice they have nowhere to rise to.
Sardine whale in an empty warehouseSardines shoaling in the air of a warehouse, in a whale’s outline. Plenty of room, no water at all.
Wake that won't closeA tugboat leaves a raised ridge of water behind it. The wake has not settled.
