Field guide No. 1518
Two distant trees, one shared canopy
Two trunks, one roof.
Two bare trees stand far apart on a snowy plain, their branches reaching out until they knit into a single arching crown. A long-distance arrangement, kept up all winter.
Field noteLimbs that long would sag and split, though touching oaks do graft; these two simply reached further.
Also possible, also breaking scale
Canned serenityBonsai exist, koi exist, tins exist. The arrangement is merely unprecedented.
The hourglass bakeryAn hourglass with flour runs as well as with sand. The village is a baker’s centrepiece.
The other side is smallerCanyon walls match in rock but not in shape. The near ledge copies the far cliff, mark for mark, at a fraction the size.
Endless lizard molt in a red rock arroyoAn empty reptile skin curves through a red-rock wash. The lizard left its itinerary.
