Field guide No. 1517
Tumbleweed through the concrete walls
Rolling, walls notwithstanding.
A huge tumbleweed passes straight through the corner of a concrete wall in the desert, half on each side, with neither one scratched. It didn’t go round; it never goes round.
Field noteDry brush slipping through poured concrete without a crack breaks physics, but the weed stays a weed.
Also possible, also breaking physics
Birches rooted in the cloudsTrees reach for light and root in soil. These have it the other way round and seem fine.
Pews above, chandeliers belowChandeliers grown up from the flagstones like oaks. Hanging was apparently optional.
Thundercloud beneath the iceA dark cloud-shaped mass rests beneath lake ice. The weather has moved below the surface.
Sunlight bulldozes an empty bedSunbeams push the duvet and pillows into a heap as if the window light were a solid blade.
