Field guide No. 121
The thimble conservatory
Mind your fingers, mind the ferns.
A silver thimble becomes a glass greenhouse on a mossy rock, lit warm from inside among the lilies of the valley.
Field noteGlasshouses are rooms of glass; thimbles are rooms for a finger. The overlap is mostly ferns.
Also possible, also breaking scale
Safety in numbersA safety pin is a bent wire and a clasp. Enlarged, it is still just that, in a lake.
Right on timeRoundhouses come as models; watches come with cases. Combined, they keep railway time precisely.
Pearl transitStations go in odd places, including shells if the shell is big enough. This one is.
A minor adjustmentRead charitably, a stone ball and a good caliper. Read literally, a moon somebody shrank to fit the vice.
