Field guide No. 405
The silk wash
Rinse, wax, cobweb.
An automatic car wash is strung with thick white cobwebs, and the cars going through it come out wrapped in silk like flies, a carved pumpkin on the post by the entrance. The brushes are still spinning.
Field noteSpiders wrap flies, not hatchbacks. The web is right; the prey is several sizes up.
Also possible, also breaking scale
Right on timeRoundhouses come as models; watches come with cases. Combined, they keep railway time precisely.
The hourglass bakeryAn hourglass with flour runs as well as with sand. The village is a baker’s centrepiece.
A geological disagreementRock can bend and fold; tying a whole canyon in a knot just needs more time than there has been.
In a nutshellA dollhouse library fits a walnut if the books are small enough. Reading them is the hard part.
