Field guide No. 122
Low tide on toast
Breakfast, with rock pools.
A slice of toast holds a tiny coastline: turquoise pools, dark rocks and orange starfish where the butter should be.
Field noteRock pools can be any size, starfish included. Bread is an unusual coast but a firm one.
Also possible, also breaking scale
Peel crossingRope bridges need anchors, and enormous peels would serve. Only the bananas are missing.
Slow vacationTortoises carry their homes already. A larger tortoise could manage a hill, given patience and a road.
The pincushion wetlandsStilt houses need stilts; pins are stilts with a point. Herons do not ask about zoning.
The last rinse whirlpoolA whirlpool needs a drain; this bowl hasn’t got one. Small physics, no contradiction.
