Field guide No. 259
The radiator’s soft landing
Heavier than the floor expected.
An old cast-iron radiator sits on a sunlit oak floor that has gone soft beneath it, the boards sagging like a mattress. Central heating, slowly sinking.
Field noteOak that sags like a mattress is wood forgetting itself. Heavy radiators on soft floors are no paradox.
Also possible, also breaking material
Hush moneyPurses hold coin; this one holds velvet. Odd currency, perfectly constructible.
Still water in a vintage carriageSeats of standing water require water that stands. Physics declines; logic shrugs.
Towel peaksFolded cotton piles as high as you have cotton. The cable car is the ambitious part.
Fresh airFruit makes a feeble blade, but a blade nonetheless. The fan would work, briefly and stickily.
