Field guide No. 258
Pearly teeth in a purple fig
It has been smiling at the knife.
A ripe fig split in two on a dark ceramic plate is packed inside with rows of small white teeth instead of seeds. Nobody has offered it a toothbrush.
Field noteFruit growing dentition is biology going off-script. Dentists would cope; botanists less so.
Also possible, also breaking physics
Apple peel, flesh walking awayFruit with legs is biology taking liberties. A peel standing empty is mere good peeling.
Light breakfastLogically sound. Clouds simply don’t toast, which is physics’ problem, not logic’s.
The library of rainJars hold water. Keeping it falling inside them is weather’s refusal, not logic’s.
The wrong end of summerTomatoes don’t make snow, but nothing forbids them in principle. Botanists remain unconsulted.
