Field guide No. 1496
Still warm
Snow, toasted at the edges
A picnic table at night carries a slab of snow browned and blistered around its rim like a baked crust. It came out of the oven a while ago and nobody has cut it.
Field noteSnow browning at the rim means heat from below, enough to scorch and too little to melt anything.
Also possible, also breaking physics
Bag on an invisible seatTote bag of bread and greens sits at bench height on plain air between benches.
The colour goes homePigment that runs uphill into its tin offends gravity and drying times. Logic is unbothered.
Three summer meadows frozen in iceGlaciers grind meadows away. This one has kept strips of summer grass in flower between its bands.
Fog snagFog catches on a stone wall and fence. The weather has been snagged on the boundary.
