Field guide No. 112
Velvet tide
Tonight only: the ocean.
Red theatre curtains part on a breaking wave, and the sea spills across the polished stage floor.
Field noteTheatres open onto the sea in a few lucky places. Letting it onstage is a booking matter.
Also possible, also breaking scale
Light dessertLift enough balloons and anything goes up, jelly included. The wobble is a bonus.
Low tide on toastRock pools can be any size, starfish included. Bread is an unusual coast but a firm one.
One last dropWater drops already hold tiny pictures by refraction. A glass inside one is only a little ambitious.
Sunny side upAn outsized egg is a sculpture with a yolk. Pools have floated worse.
