Field guide No. 012
Light breakfast
Toast, but make it weather.
A green glass toaster on a stone plinth pops two slices of cloud. Very light. No crumbs.
Field noteLogically sound. Clouds simply don’t toast, which is physics’ problem, not logic’s.
Also possible, also breaking physics
Air dryPegs and lines are dependable. Clouds, unfortunately, are not something you can grip.
The seam in the seaCord could, in principle, be laced through water. The water would decline to stay shut.
The unpicked noteSeeds get into pianos and some will sprout given light. Nobody has watered a Steinway yet.
Autumn leaves suspended in timeLeaves that refuse to land are gravity’s embarrassment. The tree is entirely ordinary.
