Field guide No. 370
Ironing crumpled aluminum
Pressing the foil.
In a workshop, an old flat iron is pressing a crumpled sheet of aluminium foil into a smooth, mirror-bright plate, steam rising. The creases are not coming back.
Field noteFoil can be smoothed, not turned into a mirror-thick plate. The iron added metal somewhere.
Also possible, also breaking material
Fresh airFruit makes a feeble blade, but a blade nonetheless. The fan would work, briefly and stickily.
The sea has pocketsWater stitched like denim breaks the fabric rules, not the logical ones. The key is perfectly ordinary.
The linen loafBread with a linen crumb is a baker using the wrong cupboard. Possible, if inedible.
The fox’s snowy paper trailFootprints are marks pressed into snow. These are folded paper standing on it.
