Field guide No. 635
Chalk scuffed cloud between alpine cliffs
Took the gap too fast.
A fat white cloud has jammed itself into a gap between two grey mountain faces, and where it has rubbed the rock is streaked white, like a sofa scraped through a doorway. Nobody measured.
Field noteClouds are mist and pass through anything. This one has rubbed the cliffs on its way through and left white marks.
Also possible, also breaking material
Between stationsFish heads and fins protrude from smooth tide-pool rock. Fish and stone have not agreed who is who.
Hinged boulder across a quarry fissureQuarried block pleated like a paper fan to straddle the crack below it.
Hush moneyPurses hold coin; this one holds velvet. Odd currency, perfectly constructible.
Punching holes in steamPunch presses need something solid. This one stamps neat holes in a belt of steam that keeps them.
