Field guide No. 511
Hourglass aging light into iron
A beam with a few years on it.
In a sunny attic, a red laser beam goes into one side of a brass hourglass and comes out the other side as a rusted iron bar. Light, it turns out, ages badly.
Field noteLight leaves an hourglass as light. This beam comes out the far side as a rusted iron bar.
Also possible, also breaking physics
Autumn stillness in a stormWind that stops at a straight line breaks the weather’s rules, not logic’s.
Cumulus impact in the meadowClouds are mostly air and drift. This one landed hard enough to dig a crater.
The quiet triangle beyond the wavesSpeakers add noise to a storm. This one subtracts it, and a long triangle of sea lies flat.
Late for nothingTortoises run tracks if bribed. Leaving glass copies of the shell behind is the physics problem.
