Field guide No. 784
Cobalt waterfire on autumn leaves
The fire has brought its own water.
Bright blue flames rise from a bed of wet autumn leaves beside a dark pool. The fire is making a convincing case for itself.
Field noteBlue flame still burns leaves, however unhelpful the rain. Color does not contradict combustion.
Also possible, also breaking physics
Zebra stripes blowing across savannaStripes are just hair colour. Coming away in ribbons is odd, but a striped animal and a breeze is all it takes.
Crosswind over the desert plainA rolled tube of dust lies sideways above a stony plain. The wind found a shape and stuck with it.
Misty marsh with a looped neck heronHeron necks fold into an S already. Looping it all the way round is more yoga than anatomy.
The pond returns the rainWater rises as vapour, unseen. Streams shooting up into one cloud is the visible version.
