Field guide No. 1460
Misty marsh with a looped neck heron
Neck, tied once for luck.
A grey heron stands in a misty marsh, its long neck looped through itself into a ring. It looks calm about it.
Field noteHeron necks fold into an S already. Looping it all the way round is more yoga than anatomy.
