Field guide No. 344
Chanterelle gills become waterfalls
The forest floor has plumbing.
On a mossy bank in a damp forest, golden chanterelle mushrooms pour water out of their gills in thin falls, running off into a stream. They are mostly gills now.
Field noteGills drop spores, quietly. Pouring water in falls is a spring’s job.
Also possible, also breaking physics
Dunes defying gravityLoose sand slumps to its angle of repose. These walls ignore the angle entirely.
Air dryPegs and lines are dependable. Clouds, unfortunately, are not something you can grip.
All the hours at onceTrees can bloom and turn unevenly; snow can come early. All of it on one tree is merely bad timing.
Escaping grooves on plasterGrooves are just shaped vinyl; lifting off makes them loose shaped vinyl. Odd, consistent.
