Field guide No. 265
Autumn leaves suspended in time
The tree let go. The leaves didn't fall.
A bare tree in a misty field wears a flat ring of orange leaves hovering at waist height around its trunk. Autumn happened, gravity just hasn't been told.
Field noteLeaves that refuse to land are gravity’s embarrassment. The tree is entirely ordinary.
Also possible, also breaking physics
The chair that wasn'tDust does hang in sunbeams. Sitting it into furniture is physics overstepping, gently.
Overtime for the oceanFans make wind and wind makes waves. Neat rows to the horizon is the overtime physics won’t pay.
Cello strings tether grounded cloudsClouds sitting on parquet on a leash defy weather, not logic. The cello is in tune.
Ray of eveningRays glide, but through water. Air holds this one up out of courtesy, not physics.
