Field guide No. 264
A soap-sized desert in the mirror
Lather in front, dunes in the reflection.
A wet bar of green soap sits on a dish by a tiled bathroom mirror, and in the mirror its dish holds a little desert of rippled dunes at sunset. Somebody's bathroom has been washing with sand.
Field noteThe mirror shows a different dish than the one in front of it, and a desert the size of soap. Two faults.

Two dimensions shortLive zebra at the front, flat cardboard at the back. One animal cannot be both, however tight the budget.
The chair's impossible treeA shadow is a chair’s outline or it isn’t a chair’s shadow. This one is a tree’s, cast by a chair.
A scarf’s impossible shadowTaut scarf, slack shadow. One object, two tensions, and only one of them is telling the truth.
