Field guide No. 1528
Waves growing from torn kelp
Seaweed, producing its own sea.
Torn kelp fronds lie along a shore, and from each ragged edge a small curling wave breaks out of the leaf itself. The sea seems to be growing back from cuttings.
Field noteKelp lives in the waves, so waves sprouting from kelp puts the sea inside its own seaweed.

Bottomless fitted sheetA fitted sheet stretches over a hole in a lawn. The bed has misplaced its bottom.
A hole in the orchardDusk round the tree, full night through it. One sky cannot be both hours at once.
Cabbage with curious snail eyestalksA cabbage is what snails eat, not what snails are. This one is both, looking round on stalks for itself.
