Field guide No. 290
Tiny flame, enormous gust
One candle, all the weather.
In a dark blue room, a single candle’s flame streams sideways, and across the room a curtain and loose papers fly away from it as if from a gale. The draught is coming from the candle.
Field noteA flame that blows a gale gets energy from nowhere. A physics outrage, a logical shrug.
Also possible, also breaking physics
A door for nobodyDoors don’t usually hold back streams while lying down. Water’s choice, not a contradiction.
Roots above, apples belowTrees could grow upside down if gravity agreed. It doesn’t; logic doesn’t mind.
The porcelain orchardOlive trees fruit olives. Teacups would be a breakthrough in botany, not in logic.
Late for nothingTortoises run tracks if bribed. Leaving glass copies of the shell behind is the physics problem.
