Field guide No. 1214
The egg’s long way home
The egg is mid-commute.
A single white egg stretches into a long tube through the wooden nest boxes of an old henhouse, trailing across the straw. It is on the way back to the nest, and some way off.
Field noteStretched into a tube, still an egg, still commuting. Shells do not draw out like taffy, but nothing here contradicts.
Also possible, also breaking material
Winged refractions in honeysuckleMoth wings are dust and membrane. These are glass lenses, which flutter badly but focus well.
Zebra stripes hanging from a fenceStripes can hang as fabric beside the zebra. The animal appears to have kept its own.
Weaving ribbons in the currentClear water braided over and under itself between mossy stones. Currents do not weave, though they can loop.
Wind tossed wood grain beneath paperWalnut grain peeling into ribbons is a material oddity, though fine shavings do lift in a draught.
