Field guide No. 1374
Sunflowers with sideways floating centers
Off-centre and unbothered
A dense field of sunflowers where each dark seed head has slipped sideways out of its yellow petals, hovering beside the ring. The whole crop looks like it blinked.
Field noteSeed heads drift out of their sunflowers’ petal rings and hang beside them, every one slipped the same way.
Also possible, also breaking physics
An orderly accidentBowls shatter every day. Landing in a spiral in midair is the part physics would query.
Impossible triple braided stream in spring meadowStreams split and join but cannot cross over themselves. This one plaits its water like hair.
Blue flamed ivory mushroom hollowPale blue mushrooms glow among ferns. The understory keeps its own lights on.
The last light sheds white dustA tube light pours powder over buried chairs. Light does not shed dust, but a falling drift has no contradiction.
