Field guide No. 390
Snail’s trail of spring
Leaves flowers, not slime.
A snail crosses a wet brown autumn leaf, and the shiny trail behind it is sprouting a line of small white flowers. It is going at the speed of spring.
Field noteSlime is just slime. Flowers sprouting from it in seconds is spring on fast-forward.
Also possible, also breaking physics
Orbital gardeningPots, daisies and hoses are all in stock. The hovering is gravity’s oversight.
The seam in the seaCord could, in principle, be laced through water. The water would decline to stay shut.
The colour goes homePigment that runs uphill into its tin offends gravity and drying times. Logic is unbothered.
Autumn in the tree’s shadowShade can cool a lawn, not change its season. Still nothing here argues with itself.
