Field guide No. 582
Red fox cocooned in its enormous tail
Self-catering bedding.
In a mossy hollow among ferns and fallen leaves, a red fox sleeps tucked inside its own vast tail, which wraps round it several times like a duvet. The tail does most of the fox now.
Field noteFoxes curl their brush round their noses. This brush wraps the whole fox several times over.
Also possible, also breaking scale
Impossible pawprints in turquoise icePawprints this big would need an animal as big as a bus, walking on the ice from the far side.
Brass trumpet, endless black absenceTrumpet bell feeds a drainpipe-thick black tube that runs off down the platform.
Light dessertLift enough balloons and anything goes up, jelly included. The wobble is a bonus.
A minor adjustmentRead charitably, a stone ball and a good caliper. Read literally, a moon somebody shrank to fit the vice.
