Field guide No. 569
Metronome splits the room in time
Andante on the left, presto on the right.
In an empty room with tall windows, a small wooden metronome sits on the floorboards and everything to its right is a streak of motion blur while the left half stands sharp and still. Half the room is running late.
Field noteOne room keeps one time. Beside this metronome, the right half runs in a blur and the left stands still.
Also possible, also breaking physics
Copies and kindlingFires need a hearth and make smoke. This one burns on a copy room’s bare floor and makes none.
Autumn leaf wave at the bus shelterRed leaves sweep past the shelter in an arch. The route is closed for foliage.
Suspended rain in a watering canA round curtain of raindrops hangs motionless in the handle. The can is full, in a way.
Gravity has left the roomEggs fall, as a rule. This one is merely ignoring the rule, which is physics’ affair.
