Field guide No. 546
Copies and kindling
Facilities: fire, photocopier.
A bare copy room with a photocopier, a grey recycling bin and a wrapped ream of paper has a log fire burning on the floor in the middle, no hearth and no smoke. Toner, but make it cosy.
Field noteFires need a hearth and make smoke. This one burns on a copy room’s bare floor and makes none.
Also possible, also breaking physics
Standing water curtain at low tideWaves stand tall for a moment before breaking. This one has decided not to, all the way along.
Cumulus impact in the meadowClouds are mostly air and drift. This one landed hard enough to dig a crater.
Garden hoses recoil from a tiny puddleWater can arc from hoses, even when the garden has no plan for it. The puddle is small.
Folded pool, level waterThe tiled pool bends into a saddle while its water lies flat. The architect likes the geometry, little else.
