Field guide No. 673
Impossible red and white stairwell
Up, and then up the other way.
In a bare red room a concrete staircase with a steel rail climbs to the ceiling and carries on climbing along it, upside down. Use the handrail on the way back.
Field noteBoth flights are up. One rises from the floor, one from the ceiling, and they meet as one stair.

Frostbound fire in a deserted yardIce and flame cancel each other out, and here each holds the other in place along the yard’s floor.
The other costumeA mirror returns what stands in front of it. A bare skeleton for a living okapi returns something else.
Grass through the red deerGrass and stag occupy the same space here, each solid, neither giving way to the other.
Seven shadows, one starfishSeven shadows run from seven arms under one sun. The sunset cannot be several places at once.
