Field guide No. 630
Bread dough breaking through asphalt
Proving, under the crossroads.
At a city crossroads the asphalt has broken up and lifted, and a great mound of pale, risen bread dough bulges out through the cracks. The roadworks were meant to be an hour.
Field noteDough rises, given warmth and time. Under a crossroads it has had both and lifted the tarmac clean off.
Also possible, also breaking scale
Giant empty cicada shell on spillwayCicada shells are thumb-sized. One the size of a car means something car-sized has hatched.
The thread thin cedarA cedar narrows to a thread-thin point above the forest floor. The tree has made a careful exit.
DetourStone cats can be carved at any size. This one just needed a longer coast and a quieter council.
Sunday at the staplerPools are rectangles with a ladder, and so, roughly, is a stapler. Lane rules still apply.
