Field guide No. 1534
Air gap
The waterfall skips a step
A tall waterfall over a dark basalt gorge stops halfway down, leaves a band of empty air, and carries on falling below it. Somebody pressed pause on one stretch.
Field noteWaterfalls drop in one unbroken sheet, and this one skips a stretch of air halfway down.
Also possible, also breaking physics
Upward mud into ceiling bootsBoots, mud and a ceiling are ordinary. Gravity going the other way for two wellingtons is the only change.
Frost clings where the fox touchesRime follows the fox through a mild meadow; the fox is the cold source and the weather has not been told.
Before the stormCorrugated roof rises in points toward drops that hang above it, not yet falling.
Clouds beneath the frozen lakeCumulus need open sky to form. Under ice they have nowhere to rise to.
