Field guide No. 614
A cloud’s shadow rains
The cloud stayed dry. The shadow didn’t.
A small pink cloud floats high over a prairie at dusk, and well away from it its shadow lies on the grass and pours rain off the edge of a ditch. The cloud has delegated.
Field noteShadows are where light isn’t. This one has kept the cloud’s rain for itself and lets it fall into a ditch.
Also possible, also breaking physics
Slow leakConcrete balls are solid or hollow; this one is pressurised with ice cubes that drift off like steam.
Bear’s dandelion sneeze at duskBears do sneeze. They don’t exhale a field’s worth of dandelion seed, however long they’ve been sniffing.
Dry riverbed climbs the canyon wallA channel climbs stone against gravity. Its geography is strange, not self-contradictory.
Flame shaped heat distortion among mushroomsSmoky flame shapes rise over pale mushrooms in cold soil. A heat haze with no heat to speak of.
