Field guide No. 1260
Zebra’s missing stripes
Left a few behind.
A zebra stands in a muddy yard with fewer stripes than it started with, while loose black bands lie curled in the mud around its hooves. It is being very still about the loss.
Field noteFewer stripes on the zebra, black bands curled in the mud. Stripes are not loose parts, but that is no contradiction.
Also possible, also breaking category
Berry far awayDomes are domes; a red one with seeds would still track stars. Planning would object first.
Fire extinguisher of falling leavesExtinguishers hold foam or powder. Leaves are a refill for a different season.
The dam of fallen leavesLeaves pile and drift like a slow liquid. Impounding a valley of them behind concrete is only engineering.
Open seasonDark curved blades are pinned among the apples, as the orchard’s own notice to pickers.
