Field guide No. 1524
Vertical sand tide
The beach, filed against the wall.
A bare basement has one whole wall of rippled sand standing upright, its dune ridges set as if a beach had been stood on end. Low tide, if the tide went sideways.
Field noteDry sand slumps at about thirty degrees, so a sheer dune face needs gravity pointing somewhere else.
Also possible, also breaking physics
Underwater cherry tree in bloomCherry trees drown in the sea. This one flowers on the seabed and sheds petals into the current.
Dustfall suspends a broken canyon keystoneDust pours from a broken stone arch and hangs over the canyon. Gravity is taking the scenic route.
Octopus and the climbing shadowThe shadow climbs the rock wall while its octopus rests in the pool; one of them is on a schedule.
Paper migrationPaper can be folded into whales; it cannot then go flying. The obstacle is aerodynamics.
