Field guide No. 135
The umbrella orchard
Grown for the coast.
A windswept tree on a stormy cliff is covered in striped umbrellas instead of leaves.
Field noteTrees bear leaves to keep off weather. Umbrellas are the same idea, grown wrong.
Also possible, also breaking physics
All the hours at onceTrees can bloom and turn unevenly; snow can come early. All of it on one tree is merely bad timing.
The colour goes homePigment that runs uphill into its tin offends gravity and drying times. Logic is unbothered.
Tiny flame, enormous gustA flame that blows a gale gets energy from nowhere. A physics outrage, a logical shrug.
