Field guide No. 749
The tidal channel’s shed skin
Low tide, moulting.
On a mudflat at dusk, a tidal channel has left a clear empty skin of itself lying beside its new course, ripples and all. It has grown.
Field noteWater keeps no skin to shed. This channel peeled off a clear one, every ripple kept, and moved over.
