Field guide No. 1512
The impossible boundary line
Out of bounds, upward.
An empty indoor basketball court at sunset, where one white boundary line crosses the floor and then climbs straight up the far wall. The ball is out if it touches the wall, the ceiling, or the idea.
Field noteCourt markings are only paint, and paint climbs walls happily; the referee is who would object.
Also possible, also breaking nothing
Afternoon, somewhereA chair, some arches and a flooded floor. Architects have done stranger things on purpose.
Ants mend a shattered cobalt teapotAnts do bridge gaps with their bodies. That they chose a teapot is odd, not contradictory.
Flames along a melting alpine snowbankFire burns along the edge of an alpine snowbank. The mountain has declined to pick a season.
Uncreased ghost of a crumpleA folded paper form holds the shape of a crumple without a crease. It has remembered the collapse but not the damage.
