Field guide No. 283
Sound caught in a silver colander
Strained, then served.
A steel colander on dark blue linen is heaped with clear glass ripples, like rings of sound, with a few spilled on the cloth and one held in a spoon. The quiet drained through the holes.
Field noteSound has no shape to strain; glass ripples do. As sculpture it stands; as acoustics it leaks.
Also possible, also breaking material
The ribbon quarryQuarries cut rock into terraces. Cutting satin the same way is waste, but legal waste.
A suitable pauseBenches are wood, water is wet, and neither rule forbids the other. The greyhound has not asked.
Velvet waterfall in an empty theatreFabric doesn’t fall like water, but a lot of fabric falling is merely expensive.
Clean livingSoap can be cast in blocks and blocks can be stacked. Rain would file the objection.
