Field guide No. 705
Red receiver, concrete echoes
Loud enough to crack the floor.
A red telephone handset lies on a concrete slab, and rings of ripples spread out from its earpiece across the surface until the edge of the slab breaks off. Someone on the other end is shouting.
Field noteSound rippled solid concrete into rings until the edge gave. A phone did it, off the hook.
Also possible, also breaking physics
The boulder’s raised echoA splash falls back in a blink. This splash of mud has set in the shape of the boulder that made it.
The pillow that bent steelA hydraulic press bends a steel plate around a white pillow. The cushion has been promoted beyond its job.
Second opinionA polished table reflects chairs that are not the ones present. The reflection was consulted.
The cloud cobblerClouds are water and tacks are brass. Brass does not hold water vapour, however neatly driven.
