Field guide No. 1471
Peppercorns piercing a porcelain plate
Seasoning, overdone.
A white plate on a dark red table punched with clean round holes, a peppercorn perched on the rim of each. The table has holes too.
Field notePeppercorns are hard but not that hard. These went through porcelain and table at speed.
Also possible, also breaking physics
Sparrows with drifting motion trailsMotion blur follows fast birds. These trails are longer than the flock deserves.
Inverted crow nest with hanging eggsThe eggs rest on the underside of the bowl, having misread the brief but not contradicted it.
Upside down starlings in a dry poolBirds can roll for a moment, but a whole flock flying inverted indoors needs a new idea of up.
Knotted tornado over the prairieAir can’t hold a knot. This funnel has tied an overhand in itself and kept spinning.
