Field guide No. 1598
Out of phase
A rock that went halfway through
A lichened boulder hangs in a chain-link fence at the edge of a dry lot, the wire running straight through it. Neither the rock nor the fence has given way, and both seem fine with it.
Field noteChain-link threads straight through the boulder as if one of them forgot to be solid.
Also possible, also breaking physics
Orbital ring through lunar terrainRings form from dust far out in orbit. This one is still peeling up off the moon’s ground, rocks and all.
Autumn leaf wave at the bus shelterRed leaves sweep past the shelter in an arch. The route is closed for foliage.
Towel on the impossible laneA lane rope rising straight up with a towel on top. Rope will not stand unaided; the towel just needs a hook.
Long exposureCameras take in light; this one gives out river. Plumbing could manage it, optics could not.
