Field guide No. 686
Migrating seats in an empty cinema
Heading south for the interval.

Field noteCinema seats are bolted down in rows. These have come unbolted and flock up the side wall.

Whale-shaped void in sardine swarmShoals close over a gap in a second. This one holds a whale’s outline open with nothing inside.
Inverted snow beneath bare branchesSnow clings to the undersides of bare branches. Gravity has been asked to wait.
Orchard apples defy gravityApples grow embedded in the underside of a thick mossy branch instead of hanging; the tree took the brief literally.
