Field guide No. 684
Magnet extracting a stone’s iron veins
Open-cast, with one tool.
On a red desert ridge a giant horseshoe magnet pulls silvery branching veins of iron straight out of a boulder, roots and all. The rock looks relieved.
Field noteIron ore is mined, crushed and smelted. A magnet big enough to draw veins out whole does it in one go.
Also possible, also breaking scale
Whisk rescueKitchen whisks beat eggs. This giant one carries a lifeboat crew through heavy surf.
Sleepy basset with endless ear dunesEars roll across the floor in copper dunes. The nap has a very large perimeter.
Peel crossingRope bridges need anchors, and enormous peels would serve. Only the bananas are missing.
One last dropWater drops already hold tiny pictures by refraction. A glass inside one is only a little ambitious.
