Field guide No. 1454
Inward spiraling pinecone on pale sand
Going in, not out.
A pinecone on sand among needles, its scales curling down into a dark hole at the centre. It seems to be packing itself away.
Field notePinecone scales already spiral by the golden angle. This one just turned the spiral inward.
Also possible, also breaking physics
Muddy footprints through the skylightFootprints belong on floors. These cross the ceiling and keep walking on sky.
Sparrows with drifting motion trailsMotion blur follows fast birds. These trails are longer than the flock deserves.
Inverted crow nest with hanging eggsThe eggs rest on the underside of the bowl, having misread the brief but not contradicted it.
Upside down starlings in a dry poolBirds can roll for a moment, but a whole flock flying inverted indoors needs a new idea of up.
