Field guide No. 1420
Brick balanced on a dandelion parachute
A hammock for a brick
Two dry dandelion stalks hold a sling of white seed fluff between them, and a red brick lies in it. The fluff is not straining.
Field noteDandelion fluff carries a seed’s weight; slung between two stalks it now cradles a whole brick.
Also possible, also breaking physics
Magenta shadows among summer fernsFronds are saturated magenta base to tip, each with a matching shadow; the shade went pink and stayed.
Going upLifts exist and so do clouds. Getting one to wait inside the other is weather’s business.
Muddy footprints through the skylightFootprints belong on floors. These cross the ceiling and keep walking on sky.
Sparrows with drifting motion trailsMotion blur follows fast birds. These trails are longer than the flock deserves.
