Field guide No. 505
Blue water, held by fire
Simmer gently, forever.
In a brick hearth, a shallow glass bowl of clear blue water rests on the tips of the flames of a log fire, with nothing else holding it up. It hasn’t boiled and doesn’t intend to.
Field noteFlames push up only heat. These hold up a bowl of water without boiling it or being put out.
Also possible, also breaking physics
The chair that wasn'tDust does hang in sunbeams. Sitting it into furniture is physics overstepping, gently.
Pebbles return to the skyPostboxes don’t launch stones and stones don’t climb. Gravity objects; logic doesn’t.
Against the grain: tangled badlands strataRock does fold under pressure, though rarely into a tangle with tidy layers above and below it.
Orbital ring through lunar terrainRings form from dust far out in orbit. This one is still peeling up off the moon’s ground, rocks and all.
