Field guide No. 1274
Blue flames at every branch
Somebody lit the whole tree.
A bare tree on a stony plain at dusk has a small blue flame at the tip of every branch. It looks less like a tree and more like a candelabrum left outside.
Field noteBranch tips each burn a small blue flame, like a candelabrum left on a plain.
Also possible, also breaking physics
Inverted meteorite crater in white chalkWhite chalk surrounds a reversed crater. The meteorite was excavated from underneath.
Crumb tideLoaf’s torn end throws crumbs across the table like spray off a breakwater.
The last matchSmoke setting solid is chemistry misbehaving. A cube of anything is still a perfectly sound cube.
A cloud’s shadow rainsShadows are where light isn’t. This one has kept the cloud’s rain for itself and lets it fall into a ditch.
